Kerala Style Easy Sambar Recipe



Ingredients 


1.  Toor Dal/Sambar Parippu – ½ cup 
2.  Tomato – 2nos cut into pieces 
3.  Potato – 2nos cut into medium sized pieces 
4.  Carrot – 1nos cut into Large size 
5.  Green Chilli – 2nos Half Slit 
6.  Shallots – 15nos 
7.  Drumstick -1nos (Cut into small finger size pieces) 
8.  Curry Leaves – 1string 
9.  Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp 
10.  Red Chilli Powder – ¼ Tsp 
11.  Salt 
12.  Asafoetida Powder – 2pinch. 
13.  Tamarind Puree – Tamarind Soaked water 
14.  Sambar Powder – 1Tbsp (Prepare a Sambar powder mixed water) 

 For seasonings 

1.  Coconut Oil – 1Tbsp 
2.  Mustard Seeds – ¼ tsp 
3.  Fenugreek Seeds – 2pinch 
4.  Curry Leaves – 1string 
5.  Dry red chilli – 1nos 
6.  Onion – ½ nos small chopped 

Instructions 


1.  Take a pressure cooker , add Toor Dal/Sambar Parippu , Shallots, cleaned potatos,carrots,tomatoes,green chillie,drum stick. Add some water equal to the vegetable quantity.


2.  Add Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder,Salt, Asafoetida powder and mix well. Cook for 2 or 3 whistles on a medium flame. Keep it aside


3.  For seasoning , Heat a pan with oil in low flame and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds,curry leaves, dry red chilli and chopped onions. When the mustards bursts, remove it from the flame and keep it aside


4.  Open the cooker and place it on a flame.Check for it salt taste and Pour the Tamarind puree (little as required), and add Sambar powder mixed water into the cooked vegetable mixture.


5.  Boil till it gets medium thickeness .Check for its consistency and add little amount of water if necessary. Add curry leaves. When it boils add the fried seasonings and switch of the flame. Close the cooker with the lid for 5minutes and serve it hot.
